Things to do in Busan, South Korea in 3 days

Busan, South Korea’s second largest city is a great destination, especially for those looking to enjoy a few extra days by the sea. Here are some recommendations during your stay at the city:

Gamcheon Culture Village

An unbelievably beautiful village full of colorful houses, layered streets, little stores with souvenirs and pleasing street food, is a must go during your stay in Busan. You can reach the village by bus (little cute green ones) and enjoy your walk among its vivid and full of good energy alleys. Don’t omit to queue and take a picture next to the little prince’s statue gazing at the view of the full of colored houses village.

Beaches

You can’t be in Busan without enjoying its beachside. My personal favorites are:

  1.  Haeundae Beach, a marvelous long white sand beach. You can either take a swim or enjoy a walk by the beach and admire the view of its illuminated skyscrapers. You should also combine it with a ride along its beautiful coast using the beach train or the colorful sky capsules. Both begin from Haeundae Blueline Park - Mipo Station. The sky capsules are a more expensive option, nevertheless you can enjoy your ride with privacy and with a better view. For those that like walking, there is also a walking trail that covers the same with the train and capsules distance.
  2.  Gwangalli Beach, another amazing long white sand beach, full of stores, cafes and restaurants. You can admire the Gwangalli Bridge that stands in front of the beach while watching a fireworks show every night and listening to local bands and artists performing. The atmosphere is magic!
  3. Songdo Beach, a bit smaller than the previous ones but still beautiful, is ideal for swimming. Before or after your bath and sunbath, take the Songdo Bay station Cable car (choose a normal or a glass bottom cable car) and enjoy a ride to Songdo Sky Park. Take a walk to the park and wander around the observation Deck. Reach the Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge and admire the view and beautiful landscape.

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple

This gorgeous temple is located a little further the city’s center (about an hour by bus) and you can’t miss it. It is one of the most beautiful and impressive Buddhist temples you may see in the country.  Having been built next to the sea on a rock surface, creates a unique and unforgettable landscape.

Markets

The Jagalchi Fish Market, a big fishing market where you can find not only a variety of seafood but the opportunity to come closer to local people and observe their everyday life. You may choose your fish and the restaurants opposite the market are more than willing to cook it for you at a very reasonable price. At walking distance from the fish market stands a whole neighborhood full of different types of markets. You may find BIFF Square and Biff street, full of traditional street restaurants with amazing Korean food. At the same road, don’t be surprised by some tents that you will come across. There are taro fortune tellers- a must try Korean experience. Most of them don’t speak English but are willing to use translate apps to assist you. You can choose a whole fortune profile or a to make specific questions. At the same area get ready for nonstop shopping Gwangbok-ro Fashion Street and more street food at its surroundings at Bupyeong Kkangtong Market and Gukje Market. On the other side of the city next to Haeundae Beach is located the Haeundae Traditional Market with more street food to taste and souvenir shops to continue your shopping.
